Amazon.com Review
A great gift for those with small kitchens, this hand-held blender and its accessories take the place of several larger appliances. Included are a regular blending blade (which can be immersed 8 inches into soup pots or deep bowls), a wire whisk for beating eggs and batters, and an enclosed chopper for nuts, cheese, and fresh herbs. Also included are a four-cup mixing beaker with a snap-lock lid, useful for storing blended ingredients, as well as a drawstring bag to keep all the components together. KitchenAid covers the blender with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

quick, clean, fast, and tough

After tearing through 2 stick blenders in 6 years, I tried this one -- and let me tell you -- the KitchenAid takes the prize. The motor (the highest powered I found on the market) is tough enough for batters and heavy mixing, and still with the multiple speeds and whisk attachment, is light-handed enough for making fast work of whipping cream, and egg whites. The chopper is worth the upgrade from the stick alone as it will do everything the old counter-top hogging food processors ever dreamed of doing, but with half the clean up time. It also makes it easy for chopping just enough for one or two servings without breaking out the heavy hardware.Unless you use a mixer for tons of cookie dough or to knead bread (in which case you want the biggest and toughest counter-top kitchenAid stand mixer you can afford...) then this is the best I've seen. Stick this blender down into a bubbling hot soup pot full of veggies, beans and meat -- it will puree the whole pot into a smoothe and beautiful soup in a matter of 2-3 minutes. A great product (and a great gift.)

I bought this because I didn't want my little precious eating preservatives or additives or any of that junk. This works like a charm making mush out of squash, making pancakes, smoothies, everything i have tried so far it works like a champ. Cleanup is rinsing it under the sink. I love this thing!

One of my favorite appliances

I absolutely love this immersion blender combo and it's become such an important part of my kitchen appliance collection since I bought it a few years ago. The variable speed feature is very handy and this unit is very well designed. The attachments are simple & quick to change and have a nice, strong, durable feel to them. The motor seems very powerful and it has a comfortable shape. I don't use it daily, but I do use it enough to appreciate it's versatility and well-considered design. It always does what I want it to do. The chopper is fantastic for so many simple chores where a full-size food processor is too big to be efficient, and it's really, really easy to clean! I've used it for mincing carrots & onion when I wanted a course, sliced (hand cut) cabbage shape cole slaw, used it to blend home made cheese balls and dips and to finely chop some of the ingredients I add. Unlike so many multi-featured appliances I've had over the years, this one has been designed without annoying crevices or seems where food can get caught, or motorized parts that get dirty but can't get wet, so cleaning is a joy. I never feel like a quick, small quantity chop isn't worth doing because of prep or cleanup anymore. This gets it done, and fast. The stick blender is very powerful and also ridiculously easy to clean and remove or attach. I use the whisk attachment infrequently, but when I have, it's performed very well. The only slight drawback is lack of a storage system for the unit and attachments. I generally leave the power unit sitting upright, connected to the chopper base so it sits comfortably on the counter. I wish I could get a rack or some other kind of custom storage, preferably hanging wall mount, so I could store & grab the items more easily. It's absolutely worth the extra money to get the additional attachments. They are tremendous time savers, and cut down on pain if you have any arthritis or muscular pain associated with mincing, whipping, etc. It also looks fantastic, which doesn't hurt, and the Empire Red color matches my other KA Empire Red appliances flawlessly.
