Features - Model KHM5TBWH - High-quality stainless steel TurboBeaters - Ejector button - Stainless steel liquid blender rod attachment - Round power cord Product Description For quick, simple whipping (as in cream) and blending (as in muffin batter), nothing beats the convenience of a hand mixer. Mobile and versatile, and conveniently stored in a cabinet. Customer Reviews A Good Choice Date: 2005-12-31 | Rating: 5 I've owned this mixer for 2 years. I use it at least once a week. It mixes everything I use it to mix, including bread dough (with the dough hooks, 4 C flour recipe). It mixes thoroughly and quickly. I've bought one for each of my daughters and they each love this mixer! Cooks Illustrated Magazine (America's Test Kitchen) rated this the top hand mixer of all the hand mixers they tested. They were right! Great QUIET Mixer that does the job Date: 2004-05-04 | Rating: 4 This is a great mixer that is good overall. The spped could be a bit faster but it could mix anything we threw at it, including refrigerated butter that was not even thawed.I would recommend! Ineffective beaters and broke way too soon Date: 2005-02-25 | Rating: 2 I've had this thing a year, and have used it maybe 10 times. The wire beaters, which seem to be all the rage, don't blend very well. For example, the sugar/butter combo you start with for cookies had huge chunks of butter that never blended, no matter how long or at which speed I used the mixer. The motor is powerful, as it seemed to have no trouble "mixing" cookie dough, although I imagine not much power is needed to skim the thin wire beaters through butter without breaking it down and mixing it with the other ingredients. Finally, what prompted me to write this review is that one of the beater inserts broke, so one of the beaters doesn't stay in or turn. My last hand mixer lasted almost 10 years through many many batches of cookies. I don't remember what brand it was, but it was far superior to this ineffective piece of junk. I have to buy a new mixer now, and while I can't assure myself that it won't break, you can bet I'll be avoiding anything with wire beaters.

Date: 2002-05-13 | Rating: 5 KitchenAid is one of those manufacturers who just can't make a bad product, regardless of price. Even this, their least expensive hand mixer, says "quality" from the moment you pick it up, and affirms it when you switch it on. A professional chef will tell you that if you can't get the job done with 3 speeds on your hand mixer, you probably shouldn't be in the kitchen. That's why you'll find this particular mixer in the homes of so many chefs. It's a no-nonsense tool for serious cooking. At the business end of the KitchenAid 3 Speed Classic Hand Mixer KHM3, one finds a pair of unusual beaters, which KitchenAid calls "Turbo-Beater Accessories". Made from pure stainless steel, the beaters have rounded mixing surfaces instead of the usual knife-edge beaters commonly found on hand mixers. The mirrored "pinwheel" pitch of the beaters creates a mixing action similar to a balloon whisk in the hand of a trained chef with very little splashing and less likelihood of overbeating ingredients like egg whites and whipping cream. Having no center shafts, the beaters are immune to clogging when plowing through heavy cookie doughs and clean up easily in the kitchen sink or the dishwasher. Hold up your mixing hand and pretend you're gripping a hand mixer. Now relax a bit and notice how your wrist wants to maintain a slight angle instead of being parallel to the floor. KitchenAid's engineers have taken this into account in the form of a slightly angled, fully ambidextrous grip. The thumb comes to rest on the oversized 3-speed control switch, with the beater-eject button just a short reach away. The KHM3's heavier-duty motor means a tad more heft than whimpier mixers, so the angled grip balances the weight more effectively than a straight one. In operation, the mixer produces a sound that's more like a power tool than a kitchen appliance, though it's not so loud that you won't hear the phone ringing. The 3 speeds are easily up to every mixing task, beating egg whites to stiff peaks in under a minute at the high speed, and gently stirring together cornbread batter on low. The cooling vents for the motor's fan are fore and aft, so the cook isn't blasted with warm air, nor will dry ingredients be blown out of the mixing bowl. The outer case has a smooth, rounded fit and finish with no creases, seams or decorative ribbing where food soils can hide. KitchenAid backs all of their countertop appliances with a 1-year full replacement warranty, something you won't get with a much cheaper mixer. Ultimately, the choice is simple. You can keep on spending $15 to $20 for one cheap hand mixer after another, or spend more and get a mixer that'll become a true friend for life in the kitchen. Skip cheap imitators with fancy gadgets Date: 2004-10-01 | Rating: 5 When we got married 7 years ago, we were given a hand mixer of another brand (Sunbeam, I think) that had seven (or was it nine?) speeds and lots of different attachments (dough hook, wisk, etc., none of wich worked well). I have a hard time remembering exact spefications because it died after 6 months, and I hadn't even mixed anything heavy with it! I always mixed most of my flour into things by hand to try to spare the motor (my mom had burnt through several mixers). So we went to the store, and for $30 we could get another cheap brand with many speeds and fancy gadgets (several brands & models available), or we could get this Kitchenaid with one set of beaters and three speeds. I chose this simple Kitchaid and have never been sorry. This little hand mixer takes it all--even stiff cookie dough like roll-out sugar cookies. And it mixes every last bit of the flour in. Beaters don't clog, dough mixes up smooth. I plan on someday getting a bigger kitchenaid, but so far haven't needed it. If you are on a budget, and need to get the most power for your penny, this is the best purchase you could possibly make! My Grandma loves it! Date: 2001-11-27 | Rating: 5 We bought one of these for my Grandma last year. She liked it so well, we bought another for my cousin's wedding present last December. We've been invited to another wedding next month and this is most likely what they will receive as well! The speed range is perfect -- most mixers splatter when making pudding on the lowest setting -- not this one. It's strong enough to prepare cooking dough with overheating, too. We think it's the best hand mixer on the market. I especially like the style of the beaters; reminds me of the one on my standard sized KitchenAid. It's just like new although reconditioned; does a terrific job on everything. Date: 2009-09-21 | Rating: 5 I am very happy with this purchase, it is the first time a have ordered a KitchenAid product. Although Amazon had written it was a 7 speed and in another location said it was a 5 speed, the seller (not Amazon) called to let me know it was a 5 speed and if I still wanted it. I thought that was very considerate of the seller. It did not matter to me if it was a 5 speed or 7 speed. Either works better then what I've been used to buying! It is very quiet and and came with a dough hooks and a liquid blender rod. Refurbs are the way to go...it saves me money and they work very well. Also...I've purchased many things from Amazon and when they are the seller they package their items extremely well! reconditioned hand mixer Date: 2010-01-17 | Rating: 4 This hand mixer was a good buy, the fact that it's reconditioned made it a good deal.

It makes the best meringue I have ever seen! A great price, too. You pay for quality Date: 2007-01-07 | Rating: 5 I ordered this for my wife for Christmas (no, I'm not an idiot, she actually likes things like this). She already has a KitchenAid stand mixer, so I got this one to match. 2 days after I ordered it, she bought a cheap one somewhere for $3. Never fear, it burnt up during the first use, she now has a matched set of high quality mixers and I look like a genius. Well, that's a stretch but you get the point. Good Match for its big brother Date: 2008-05-22 | Rating: 5 Bought this as a gift for my wife, to go with her big, matching, stand mixer, which she loves. Included are a regular blending blade (which can be immersed 8 inches into soup pots or deep bowls), a wire whisk for beating eggs and batters, and an enclosed chopper for nuts, cheese, and fresh herbs. Also included are a four-cup mixing beaker with a snap-lock lid, useful for storing blended ingredients, as well as a drawstring bag to keep all the components together. KitchenAid covers the blender with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri Customer Reviews quick, clean, fast, and tough Date: 2003-12-11 | Rating: 5 After tearing through 2 stick blenders in 6 years, I tried this one -- and let me tell you -- the KitchenAid takes the prize. The motor (the highest powered I found on the market) is tough enough for batters and heavy mixing, and still with the multiple speeds and whisk attachment, is light-handed enough for making fast work of whipping cream, and egg whites. The chopper is worth the upgrade from the stick alone as it will do everything the old counter-top hogging food processors ever dreamed of doing, but with half the clean up time. It also makes it easy for chopping just enough for one or two servings without breaking out the heavy hardware.Unless you use a mixer for tons of cookie dough or to knead bread (in which case you want the biggest and toughest counter-top kitchenAid stand mixer you can afford...) then this is the best I've seen. Stick this blender down into a bubbling hot soup pot full of veggies, beans and meat -- it will puree the whole pot into a smoothe and beautiful soup in a matter of 2-3 minutes. A great product (and a great gift.) Make your own baby food! Date: 2005-10-10 | Rating: 5 I bought this because I didn't want my little precious eating preservatives or additives or any of that junk. This works like a charm making mush out of squash, making pancakes, smoothies, everything i have tried so far it works like a champ. Cleanup is rinsing it under the sink. I love this thing! One of my favorite appliances Date: 2008-02-17 | Rating: 5 I absolutely love this immersion blender combo and it's become such an important part of my kitchen appliance collection since I bought it a few years ago. The variable speed feature is very handy and this unit is very well designed. The attachments are simple & quick to change and have a nice, strong, durable feel to them. The motor seems very powerful and it has a comfortable shape. I don't use it daily, but I do use it enough to appreciate it's versatility and well-considered design. It always does what I want it to do. The chopper is fantastic for so many simple chores where a full-size food processor is too big to be efficient, and it's really, really easy to clean! I've used it for mincing carrots & onion when I wanted a course, sliced (hand cut) cabbage shape cole slaw, used it to blend home made cheese balls and dips and to finely chop some of the ingredients I add. Unlike so many multi-featured appliances I've had over the years, this one has been designed without annoying crevices or seems where food can get caught, or motorized parts that get dirty but can't get wet, so cleaning is a joy. I never feel like a quick, small quantity chop isn't worth doing because of prep or cleanup anymore. This gets it done, and fast. The stick blender is very powerful and also ridiculously easy to clean and remove or attach. I use the whisk attachment infrequently, but when I have, it's performed very well. The only slight drawback is lack of a storage system for the unit and attachments. I generally leave the power unit sitting upright, connected to the chopper base so it sits comfortably on the counter. I wish I could get a rack or some other kind of custom storage, preferably hanging wall mount, so I could store & grab the items more easily. It's absolutely worth the extra money to get the additional attachments. They are tremendous time savers, and cut down on pain if you have any arthritis or muscular pain associated with mincing, whipping, etc. It also looks fantastic, which doesn't hurt, and the Empire Red color matches my other KA Empire Red appliances flawlessly. ~~~L O V E I T!!!!~~~~ Date: 2007-03-23 | Rating: 5 I am a kitchen nut!...love to cook and bake and my kithen is filled with Kitchenaid appliances!..the only regret I have is that I didnt purchase this gem sooner...Great Immersion Blender worth the extra money!..and great for chopping nuts when you only need a small amount for a recipe..I cant wait to make my pesto in it this summer...Thanks Amazon!..great price!... Customer Reviews This Mixer is a SURVIVOR Date: 2007-11-12 | Rating: 5 I am a breast cancer survivor, but I can't say the same for the half a dozen hand mixers I owned before this one. One of our holiday traditions is oatmeal cookies, which are an extraordinarily thick combination of oats, shortening, sugar and flour. It has been the demise of all of my previous mixers, some of just shorted out, one caught on fire. THIS KitchenAid however, has the power and torque to make quick work of those cookies and so much more. The style of the mixing blades makes them very easy to clean. The digital operation is incredible, and I've only had to use about half the power the mixer has. I've owned this mixer through several batches of many cookies and waited 2 years to write this review because I wanted to confidently say - this is the real SURVIVOR. Never used anything better! Date: 2007-09-01 | Rating: 5 I recently got married and received this mixer as a wedding present. I've been baking for years and always used my mom's cheap mixers in the preparation steps. I was amazed when I made cookies with this mixer. It's so easy to use and works great! I think I might get my mom one for Christmas so she can see what she's been missing :) The pink is cool too because they donate money to the Susan Komen cancer foundation. Pink and Perfect Date: 2008-01-08 | Rating: 5 Bought this for my wife who has been making everything over the past year with her super strong right arm of wonder! She absolutely loves this mixer and not just because it is pink! The beaters are easy to put in and take out as well as clean(I can attest to that part) and she says it's one of the lightest she's ever used. I don't think she's had to go above 4 on the speed settings but she's raring to take it out for a spin! Best Mixer Ever Date: 2008-01-01 | Rating: 5 I love this product. It does a perfect job and is REALLY easy to clean! The color is just an added bonus :) Definitely a keeper. Meringue in a "Jiffy" Date: 2008-11-14 | Rating: 5 My wife was using our old Mixer to "whipp up" a Meringue for a Coconut Cream Pie (I begin salivating when I tell this story) and it was taking quiet a long time so.........the mixer was replaced with this one, and of course the "Pink" for Her. I can do with Pink if She likes it and....She does! The color isn't the most impressive asset this mixer has, it's the "Ability to Whipp up a Meringue in a very few minuites". "We" like the Digtal display and Seven speeds. Not to be a "Wimp", it mixes chocolate chip cookie dough with power to spare. I love tools and appliances that "WORK" and this one does! The Donations by KitchenAid to Breast Cancer awareness is great also.(you MUST REGISTER YOUR PRODUCT THO) A solid five star rating is Earned!

Customer Reviews Its a Hand mixer Date: 2008-03-29 | Rating: 5 Alright, i've had this hand mixer for two days now (did research for 3 weeks). I truly don't understand most of these poor reviews. I have already made a two layer cake with home made frosting using this product. I was able to basically kneed the frosting using the hand mixer with ease. I was probably using it for about 10 minutes and my arm felt fine during and after words. The product is very light weight, yet the motor is plenty efficient. Speed 5 is not very fast, but honestly, i probably wouldn't want it to go any faster. I hear some people having problems with speed 1 being the same as speed 5. Heres the thing, this product is smarter than a 1950's hand mixer. Instead of burning out the motor because your an idiot using speed 5 with cookie dough, it'll self protect and stay lower. The instruction manual clearly states which speed to use with which item you are baking. If you go above that, well then you should expect problems. Heres the difference between this, and my hand mixer from 1978. The 1978 hand mixer smells like burning rubber when on, the beaters are not turbo beaters, so they constantly clog (the turbo beaters are great). The 78 HM also is loud and the handle is extremely poorly placed. The kitchen aid hand mixer is much quieter (while not being silent of course), and the handle is specifically made to ease the stress on your arm and wrist. Kitchenaid has gotten a few poor reviews on this product, but what you really have to realize, is how many thousands others have the product, use it weekly, and never have a problem. Kitchenaid is still the choice of pros, and 10, 15 years down the road, when you either have kids old enough to use one, or maybe you'll have grand kids, this little pup will still be beating away for you. I hope i was helpful to at least one person, in the long run, i think its the wiser choice. other notes: If there is any confusion as to if the dough hooks and shake blender are included, yes they are. I havn't yet used them, but if you look them up, each are around 16-20 dollars a piece, and come free with this product. I've also heard the dough hooks are amazing. Baking bread will never be the same. Karen Loves Mixer Date: 2006-03-09 | Rating: 5 bought this for my wife.item comes with dough hooks, whisk, and beaters. we thought it would be great in motor home, but karen uses it for everything. yes, she has a large kitchen aid and huge cusinart, but still uses this mixer. i even made pizza dough with it and motor in mixer just gobbles away without a whimper. nice to hold, long cord, rebate: what else do you need? buy it. I never thought I could love an appliance this much Date: 2008-03-06 | Rating: 5 But it's true! My husband bought me the KitchenAid 5 speed hand mixer for Christmas five years ago. I had wanted and yearned for a KitchenAid stand mixer. However, the handmixer was all we could afford. Now? You couldn't GIVE me your stand mixer I love this hand mixer so much. It beats with ease and speed everything from heavy whipping cream to thick cookie and bread dough. The beaters snap in and out with ease. The cord is long enough for great mobility. And the power on this thing! You can feel it adapting to give more "oomph" when the dough starts to get harder to mix. I love it and when (IF!) it ever dies, I'll be a KitchenAid hand mixer purchaser again. Powerful, helpful, and trendy! Date: 2009-09-27 | Rating: 5 Excellent hand mixer! At first, I was torn between getting the 5-speed, 7-speed, or the 9-speed. I was afraid that the 5-speed would not be as powerful as the latter two. However, I ended up going with the 5-speed as a trial and because it was much cheaper! Needless to say, the 5-speed has done the job! I hardly ever go up to the top 2 speeds anyway and my baking and cooking has become much faster and more efficient with this hand mixer! There are 3 different types of attachments: the regular whisk-like ones as pictured, a cork-screw looking attachment for mixing thicker ingredients such as dough, and a stick attachment for smoothies. All attachments work great and are very easy to clean. I would highly recommend this item! The Kitchenaid brand is reliable and it compliments other Kitchenaid items in my kitchen! Mixing it up! Date: 2008-02-06 | Rating: 5 The kitchenaid Mixer really does the job it is intended to do. It is powerful and sturdy, easy to put together and easy to clean.

I have a cookie recipe that I was never able to mix in my Cusinart (yes I know that is not what it is for) and had to resort to hand mixing. When making large batches it can be so very tiring but no MORE! This worked wonderfully and will get use for every dough recipe I can come up with! If you get the Kitchenaid Hand Mixer for yourself or as a gift, please add these on! :) Heavy Duty Date: 2009-05-03 | Rating: 5 These dough hooks are strong enough for the toughest dough. Features - The ideal baker's companion: creams, whips, and beats with ease - Thin, torqued blades and no center post in the beaters reduce clogging and provide easier cleanup - User-friendly digital touch-pad with seven settings - Electronic sensor adjusts power, maintaining a steady mixing speed - One-year warranty; 200-watt motor Product Description Whip up your favorite culinary delights with ease when you use this KitchenAid 7-Speed Ultra-Power Hand Mixer. This quality mixer features electronic digital controls, a convenient ejector button, stainless steel turbo beaters and a comfortable handle design. Style KHM7. Carries KitchenAid's hassle-free total replacement warranty as well as a 1-year full warranty. Amazon.com Review Pound for pound, a good hand mixer is perhaps the most laborsaving kitchen device. While my grandmother relied on arm strength and force of will to beat a stiff dough or to mash potatoes, a light and easily maneuvered hand mixer saves time and muscles. This one from KitchenAid features seven-speed digital touch control for precision mixing, and an electronic sensor that will adjust the power as you go, so you maintain a steady mixing speed. If you're beating a delicate batter, you can use the Soft Start feature and ease into faster speed. When you're finished, the beaters are easily ejected. If you've ever battled heavy doughs, you'll appreciate the beaters' design: they don't have a center post, so dough won't collect in the middle of the beater and clog the machine. It's also designed for easy cleaning. --Laura Cuthbert Customer Reviews Another wonderful little powerhouse from KitchenAid Date: 2001-07-07 | Rating: 5 You know there are times when you just don't want to haul out the big mixer, right? Well, being the holiday hostess for my large extended family, my Irish brothers love their mashed potatoes. When I have a holiday dinner and my countertops are loaded with lots of other wonderful holiday dinner foods waiting to be served, hauling out the big mixer is just not an option. Out comes this handy little KitchenAid hand mixer! In a jiffy, this little powerhouse mashes the potatoes and then away it goes so dinner can proceed as needed. It's a really cool tool and I'm glad to have it at times like that. Also, I have pulled it out to mix pancake batter, sometimes cake batter, and other easy to mix items. It's easy to wipe down and the beaters pop right off to go into your dishwasher. Easy clean, easy to use, easy storage -- what more could you want? The Best In Hand Mixer Class Date: 2000-07-02 | Rating: 5 This hand-held mixer is a great compromise if you don't require a heavy-duty stand design. It's modererately priced and is a "quality" product from "KitchenAid". The motor though, isn't quite as heavy-duty as you'll find in stand mixers. Very heavy batters or bread dough might pose a challenge for any hand-held model but it's a fraction of the price of the stand mixers. This one will meet the needs of the majority of families most of the time. It is available in eight color choices, including black and white. I rated it five stars because, it's probably the best hand-held mixer in that overall class of product. Lots of "speed" settings from which to select and made by a company that has stood the "test of time" and stands behind their products. A hand mixer so good you husband will want to use it! Date: 2000-06-13 | Rating: 5 I bought the empire green hand mixer. I thought it was very light weight upon removing it from the box. I liked the digital speed display, I thought it was extremely easy to read. And the buttons to control the speed (increase or decrease) were easy to use and not cumbersome. Compared to my betty crocker hand mixer this one is much more user friendly. As far as how it mixes- I thought it was so much better than my old hand mixer. The blades are thinner so cookie dough does not get caught. And it was so powerful! I am very happy with the purchase. It is my first kitchen aid product and probably wont be my last. As far as my fiance-- he thought it was better because of the digital display and the power. You can definitely use it to mash potatoes! It's fabulous! Date: 2006-01-31 | Rating: 5 I do a lot of baking during the holidays and I had just gotten fed up with my other mixer. I researched and found this mixer, thinking the 7-speed would be just right, not too much power as the 9-speed might be, and not too little power as the 3- or 5-speed might be. So, I bought it as my gift to myself. I've used it a couple times so far this year and I love the low speed mix feature where it does not throw the dry ingredients out of the bowl when first mixing. The beaters are delicate enough to handle a thin mix while the speeds give it enough power to handle the thicker mixes. Besides, the thinner beaters leave more of the mix in the bowl and less on the beaters when I remove them...something my teenage son doesn't like (he gets to lick them). And the digital display and controls are so easy to use. I absolutely love this mixer and am thrilled with how it pulls the ingredients together for the doughs and frostings so quickly and easily. I highly recommend this product! Best Choice for Hand Mixer Date: 2001-04-19 | Rating: 5 When it was time for me to buy a new hand mixer, I went to many stores to evaluate which one would be best. I knew I needed one with heavy-duty power to get through cookie doughs, but also one which was comfortable yet not too heavy for me to hold. I also looked at the beaters since many models of hand mixers have very flimsy, oddly shaped beaters. Finally, I decided on the KitchenAid Hand Mixer since it felt just right in my hand, and it had a heavy-duty motor and excellent beaters. Mine came with a dough hook, but I have never used it. This hand mixer has 7 speeds, plus a power-boost feature. Another new feature, to me, is the sliding mechanism for changing speeds, rather than a clicking-in-place mechanism. However, I found it very easy to adjust to this type of speed control. I love using my hand mixer for quick mixing tasks when I don't want to use my KitchenAid stand mixer. Highly recommended!

Features - Nine digital speeds, 7-1/2 inches long by 6-1/2 inches high - Pro whisk attachment increases air for fluffier mixtures - Comfort-designed handle; heel rest won't tip when set on end - Powerful lightweight motor designed for quiet, lifelong operation - Wipes off for easy cleaning Product Description The KitchenAid Professional Hand Mixer is built for the serious cook. With a total of 9 digitally-controlled speeds ranging from extra slow to extra fast, this lightweight mixer also has a "Slow Start" feature that eliminates splatter. The Pro Whisk attachment is for delicate egg whites and creams, and the professional TurboBeaters are for extra mixing power. Covered control panel makes clean up easy -- no buttons to wipe around or for food to get caught between. It's power at your fingertips. Amazon.com Review Professional chefs have long sung the praises of the KitchenAid stand mixer. Now, KitchenAid has designed a product specifically for the home baker with this nine-speed hand mixer. Its digital display shows the selected speed, providing precision control, while an electronic sensor works with the powerful yet lightweight motor to maintain that speed in any mixture, heavy to light. Designed with nonclogging air vents, the mixer is easy to clean because smooth, sleek surfaces have no seams or grooves that trap ingredients. The mixer comes with traditional beaters, a pro whisk attachment for fluffier mixes, and a one-year warranty. --Linda Dahlstrom Customer Reviews Does Everything a Dessert Chef Would Need. Date: 2005-01-05 | Rating: 5 For a decade, I've been using KitchenAid hand mixers to mix heavy dough, light batters, whip cream, make meringue, and mash potatoes. They are perfect for making cakes, cookies, fillings, pastries, and most baked goods. I've had 2 KitchenAid hand mixers, including this 9-speed, and both have run smoothly and powerfully enough for the stickiest cookie dough. The 9-speed weighs about 2 pounds, which feels heavy after 5 minutes of constant use, but never so much that it really bothered me. Unless you are making bread dough, mixing large quantities, or have a weak arm or arthritis, there is probably no need for a stand mixer. KitchenAid hand mixers will get the job done. The KHM9PWH has 9 mixing speeds. The first three speeds are slow, or stirring, speeds. Speeds 4-6 could be called medium. 7-9 are fast to superfast. To run the mixer, you first flip on the power switch on the side. Then press "Run" with your thumb while holding the mixer. Two arrow buttons provide easy "speed up" and "slow down" control. The current speed is displayed digitally right above your thumb. The mixer gently comes to a halt, even from high speeds, when you press "Stop", just below the speed buttons. When running, the righthand (looking from above) beater spins normally, while the left beater makes a slight circular motion while spinning. If you're wondering about the difference between the 9-speed, 7-speed, and 5-speed models, using my previous, somewhat subjective, definitions: The 5-speed mixer has 1 slow speed, 3 medium speeds, and 1 fast speed. The 7-speed model has 2 slow speeds, 3 medium speeds, and 2 fast speeds. I find the additional slow speeds on the 9-speed mixer useful. The mixer's surface is smooth for easy cleaning. All but the eject button are covered. The cord is also smooth and round so wipes off easily. The KHM9PWH comes with a single whisk attachment, which goes in the hole for the righthand beater. I've never found the whisk advantageous in whipping cream or meringue, but it might be beneficial in breaking up clumps in sauces. The whisk attachment is longer and wider than the beaters. It protrudes 7 inches when inserted in the mixer, instead of the beaters' 6 inches. The instruction book for the KHM9PWH is short but easy to understand, well-illustrated and contains 20 recipes, including suggestions for flavored whipped creams. The same instructions are provided in Spanish, but not the recipes. I've been very pleased with my KitchenAid hand mixers, but they don't last as long as larger KitchenAid appliances. I've had the 9-speed for three years. Before that, I had a 7-speed model for 7 years. The motor never slowed down a bit. But I had to replace that mixer, because one of the beaters would no longer lock in place. I've always found that KitchenAid motors live up to their reputation, but other little things can go wrong. Many out there, but none can compare! Date: 2001-02-07 | Rating: 5 Over the years, I have purchased several hand mixers and none can compare to this model by Kitchen Aid. This mixer is as close as one can get to professional equipment. Unlike most hand mixers, it has nine (digital) speed settings and and can easily handle heavy duty mixing needs. Other advantages are that it is lightweight, quiet, and very easy to clean. This mixer costs a little more than other products in it's category, but it is worth every penny. I highly recommend it. worth the money Date: 2003-07-11 | Rating: 5 This is a great mixer, and definitely a step up from even other KitchenAid mixers. My previous model was KitchenAid's 5 Speed model, and while it lasted me a long and faithful time, it was a bit down on power, and the speed transitions between the different settings were not smooth. This 9-speed is almost as powerful as the new and popular immersion blenders (or boat-motors, as Emeril would say), but the smooth electronic transitioning between 9 different speeds gives the user a great deal of control which will prevent you from over-beating stuff.KitchenAid's patented beaters remain the best around in terms of maximum air incorporation into eggs or batter that you are working on. The electronic speed control is a flat and integrated switch, the whole surface of the mixer with the exception of the ejection nob is now one smooth unit that makes it extremely easy to clean. The mixer is not super light, but not annoyingly heavy, either, so you won't tire out on those longer 8-10 minute mixing steps that some cakes require This picky person is very satisfied with this mixer! Date: 2002-08-06 | Rating: 5 The only con I have found so far with this mixer is that it feels a tad heavy (might give an elderly person or a child some trouble). I can put up with the heaviness, though, because I love everything else about the mixer. I really like the digital control feature for adjusting the speed up or down or off. On the first speed you can so slowly begin mixing ingredients that you will never again have a splattering mess all over everything (unless you up the speed too fast, but you do have total control over that). It means a lot to me to have that extra slow speed! (Just a note -- until I got used to using the digital speed control, I inadvertently touched "off" without realizing it. I thought the mixer had quit working, but when I figured out what I had done wrong I did not have that problem again.) The included whisk is handy, and you can order another set of beaters from KitchenAid if you like the idea of having another set clean and ready to go if needed (say, if you were mixing a cake with raw eggs and then wanted to mix a frosting or whipped cream). The beaters and whisk are stainless steel so will not chip and rust like chrome might. This mixer is also quiet as can be. Attractive, easy to clean, and fun to use, this is a wonderful product that I am happy to recommend. worth the extra $ Date: 2001-12-27 | Rating: 5 If you are considering a hand-mixer for your kitchen, this mixer really is the one. It is so powerful, yet so light and takes up little space. Really, I was able to do 3 batches of cookie dough at once with this mixer and it didn't bog down. You could really replace the stand mixer on your wish list with this 9-speed mixer and a couple of good mixing bowls that don't slip. Getting replacement or extra accessories is really easy - you can get them from Kitchen-Aid or a reseller. I got an immersion blender attachment, so I was able to stretch my mixer's use even more. So spend the extra money on this guy instead of getting a less expensive hand mixer AND a stand mixer AND an immersion blender.
